Safeguarding for Dance & Cheer online workshop
Spot the signs, strengthen your systems, and embed a culture of protection
Led by Joey Gamper Cuthbert, best-selling author and senior leader in sport governance, safeguarding, and athlete welfare, with a career spanning dance education, cheer coaching, and youth sport leadership, this 1.5-hour overview explores how safeguarding applies specifically within dance and cheer environments.
The online workshop will cover types and signs of abuse, the role of social media, and common barriers to reporting. It will also outline the key policies and processes you need in place, along with practical first steps to begin taking action, implementation, and embedding safeguarding into organisational culture.
This is not a full safeguarding qualification, but an accessible introduction for those new to teaching, coaching, or running a studio or gym. It can also serve as a valuable refresher, or as a way to strengthen and reinforce existing safeguarding learning within a dance and cheer specific context.
